An intervention into the myth of authentic Thai culture

4 of 24 interventions into Jim Thompson House museum of Thai culture 2005

Oil on Jim Thompson silk.

Images from photographs taken by the local Ban Krua community living next to Jim Thompson House. They were asked to take photos of their homes and their own environment; the ordinary aspects of their homes and lives.

This work was censored. After a few weeks, it was taken from its original context in Jim Thompson House and moved to the gallery nearby, thereby rendering it more 'aesthetic' and less 'political' and disruptive. All official photographic records of the original intervention were destroyed.
