Ayers Rock (Uluru) 2000

oil on unstretched canvas 12 x 40ft

The image shows a line of tourists climbing Uluru, a rock sacred to local aboriginal people, who ask that people do not climb the rock as a sign of respect. This request is largely ignored. Placing the canvas on the floor, forces audiences to skirt around it, respecting perhaps the canvas image rather than the sacred rock.
